About Butterfly
Butterfly du Jour is an erotica writer/journal creator of Erotica du Jour.
She is also a poet, an artist, an epicurean, a trained chef, and a true sensualist.
Butterfly began her career as a burlesque dancer in 1988, at the age of eighteen. Her first strip club venue was the Oddball Cabaret (now the Valley Ball) in the San Fernando Valley. Graduating over to The Bare Elegance Club (in 1991), Butterfly graced the stage in 40’s style gowns, garters, stockings and heels. She created a vintage 1940’s appeal with each outfit; a Veronica Lake inspired hairstyle of deep auburn waves, elbow-length gloves and thigh high stockings.
She blossomed into her own unique routine a la burlesque, emulating Rita Hayworth. Due to her sweet personality and being “practically perfect in every way”, a co-stripper dubbed her “The Mary Poppins of Stripping”. Years of high heels and wearing nothing but strobe lights brought out the sensual siren in this goddess.
Butterfly also danced at Maiden Voyage on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, where she lived for five years.
Inspired by Anais Nin, she began to compose erotica stories infused with poetry and mystery. The ancient Japanese poets inspire her poetry. She admires many writers, poets, and artists past and present. Some of her favorite writers are Anais Nin, Ono No Komachi, Izumi Shikibu, Murasaki Shikibu, and Yosano Akiko.
Her Nom de Plume “Butterfly” describes her lifelong power to transform, imagine, and reinvent herself.
In her private life, ‘Butterfly’ is a mother of three beautiful children, and lives with her family in Los Angeles. She is happily married to a wonderful Japanese man. She enjoys biking, walking on the beach, and exploring the abundant pleasures of local farmers markets.
